Board Meets July 7, 2011 6:00pm
The Devils Lake Water Improvement District Board meeting will be held in its offices above Radio Shack Thursday July 7th at 6:00pm. The best way to stay informed is for all lake front homeowners and interested parties to attend these important meetings.
There are several topics of importance to lake residents on this month’s agenda. The District has been working to obtain a permit to re-introduce grass carp into Devils Lake. The District has developed a work plan to continue toward that goal. The initial estimates of the components contained in that work plan total $164,500. These include; a professional topographic survey, an aquatic plant survey, an economic impact study, a scientific study outline, a nutrient study, a consultant for the ODFW process, and a evaluation of Coho salmon under the Endangered Species Act. Come hear the discussion on this important topic.
Discussions of the status of the erosion study as well as the impact it had on early season lake levels will be reviewed. The District has been approached to sign on to redevelopment of the area known as Hostetler Park located on the North shore of the D-River between Hwy 101 and the State Park. Under consideration is conversion of the area into a water craft rental facility as a 1-year pilot project.
DLWID has scheduled a festival to be held at Regatta Park on August 27th from 10am to 2pm. The event will be called the Devils Lake Revival; many of the plans have already be made, come an learn more. Additionally, the District will discuss testing of Thompson Creek water quality, provide an update on the Septic Tank Revitalization Program and the Save Our Shoreline Program. Also in attendance will the this year’s lake intern Lisa Lynch who will provide an update on her summer activities.
