DLWID January Board Meeting
The Devils Lake Water Improvement District Board meeting will be held in its offices above Radio Shack Thursday January 7th at 6:00pm. The best way stay informed is for all lake front homeowners and interested parties to attend these important meetings.
There are several interesting items on the agenda including a summary of Metro’s recently released report related to the performance of SolarBees on Blue including the appointment of a new Board member. Reports will be given on recent activities related to the Septic Tank Revitalization Program, see the Manager’s Report for details. According to the Manager’s Report, the district has abandoned the Request for Proposal for the development of a lake nutrient budget which could have determined the extent septic systems are contributing nutrients to the lake.

DLWID Annual Board Planning Session
The DLWID Board will be participating in its annual Goal Planning session on Saturday, January 9th from 10am to 1pm, which is open to the public. Note this is an hour earlier than previously reported based on the latest email from the District Manager. The District has not published an agenda for this meeting and it is unclear whether there will be an opportunity for public comment. It will however be a good chance to experience the District’s planning process.
Lincoln City Council Meeting
The Manager’s Report states “The intention of this memo is to go through the history of the Septic Tank Revitalization Program as it pertains to Devils Lake Water Improvement District and then discuss the “preliminary position paper on a possible program to regulate septic tanks tributary to Devils Lake,” that will be presented at the January 11, City Council Meeting.” I spoke to the City Recorder today (January 4th) and she verified that the proposed septic ordinance will be on the January 11th agenda as a discussion item.
